ABSTRACT
[4th floor, Howard House]

We will discuss counting problems for orbits of thin hyperbolic groups. The main example of a thin hyperbolic group is the Apollonian group.

In the first lecture, we will introduce the Apollonian group and explain how the counting problem of circles in integral Apollonian circle packings can be translated into a counting problem for orbits of the Apollonian group in a cone defined as the zero locus of the Descartes quadratic form.
