Research Interests
Developing and implementing sophisticated analytic techniques for solving boundary-value problems arising from problems in linearised water wave theory, acoustics, electromagnetics and elasticity. In particular: wave scattering by varying topography and submerged obstacles; trapped modes, edge waves and Rayleigh-Bloch waves in water waves and acoustics; scattering by periodic arrays of infinite, finite and semi-infinite obstacles; scattering by thin elastic sheets and ice sheets on water.
Research Themes
Sample Research Topic
Wave trapping by a submerged elliptical torus
In the presence of this obstacle, low amplitude waves on the surface of the water may oscillate at a certain frequency for all time, with none of the waves radiating their energy away from the obstacle. Thus, it becomes a trapped wave.
