Research Interests
At present I am working on the detection of hidden structure in Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) spectra and investigating natural computation in biomolecules. Specifically, I am attempting to employ the tools of computational mechanics, developed by Jim Crutchfield and co-workers, to find optimal, minimal predictors for FRET data. This entails developing methods for symbolising continuous data, reducing the effects of experimental noise and interpreting the models in a physical context. My supervisors are
Karoline Wiesner and
Mark Dillingham.
