9. Comparison of Means

Aims

In the last section we introduced hypothesis tests in the context of samples from a single distribution. In this section we will use hypothesis tests to compare samples from distributions that differ in some qualitative factor. In particular, we will investigate situations where it is thought that the change in the qualitative factor may have had the effect of increasing or decreasing the population mean.
