Aims of the seminar series:

The principal aims of the series are to provide an opportunity:

                                               1.        for students to discuss their work with their peers;
                                          &nb sp;   2.        to practice the unfamiliar art of giving a seminar;
                                          &nb sp;   3.        and to facilitate the understanding and appreciation of research which is being
                                          &nb sp;              conducted in areas outside that of a student's own field of research.

It should be emphasized that this series should in no way be viewed as being a replacement for either giving a seminar at, or attending  the statistics groups'  formal seminar series.
