I am Lecturer in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at Bristol University. I was previously the Max Newman Research Fellow of the Statistical Laboratory of Cambridge University and Clayton Fellow of Christ's College.
My work involves a variety of problems in probability and statistics. My core research uses ideas from entropy theory to prove limit theorems in probability theory. I published a book about this research, entitled Information Theory and the Central Limit Theorem. Here is a list of known errata.
I have also written papers concerning behaviour of the Poincaré constant, match lengths, quantum data compression and the entropy power inequality. My preprints and academic links are available on this site.
In the academic year 2009-10, I will be lecturing the Level 3 and Level M Financial Maths course.
