Groups form one of the main building blocks of mathematics, there are hardly any mathematical structures that do not involve them in one way or another. Also they take on many forms, hence the barrel of ball-bearings, but note you have to be in the right dimension! And although the definition is very simple there are some very complicated groups and some remarkable consequential facts, for example: why does the number 26 play a role? This talk will give a brief introduction to some of the more novel aspects of the theory.
