Hi! I am a second-year PhD student in the School of Mathematics of the University of Bristol.
I've graduated in Mathematics in December 2009 at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", presenting a dissertation concerning an application of block-sorting based data compression algorithms to estimate relative entropy. In September 2010 I then moved to London to study for a MSc in Applicable Mathematics at the London School of Economics, and as I was particularly enjoying my time in the UK, I decided to extend my stay a little longer.
Despite being not much of a statistician I belong to the Statistics group of the School, as my studies, currently covering topics in information theory, ergodic theory and algorithms, may be broadly classified as applications of probability theory (for further details see the appropriate page).
In these pages you can find some more information about my studies, my less mathematical interests and some assorted links scattered here and there in no particular rational order.
