In this page you can find a bit more about my involvement with the academic community and other randomly picked, completely unrelated information.

MBI Graduate Seminar

This year I am co-organising the Mathematics in Business and Industry Graduate Seminar with the help of my colleague Rupert Small. The aim of the seminar is to present examples of extra-academic research that involves high-level mathematics. We do so be inviting researchers that work in industrial contexts to discuss part of their research with the graduate students in the School of Mathematics.

We have furthermore recently decided to widen the participation to the seminar extending it to other Schools and Departments within the Faculties of Science and Engineering, in order to reflect the ever-growing interdisciplinary nature of applied mathematics.

Here you can find information about upcoming seminar. The page is updated whenever a new talk is scheduled. For further information, or to be added to our mailing list, please feel free to contact me.

Postgraduate representation

This year I am also one of the two PG representatives for the Statistics group in the School of Mathematics. The other representative for this group is my colleague Kate Hanley. As a representative, I liaise with the School on behalf of the students, as well as being frequently in touch with the Union to promote some of their policies or to bring to their attention issues that may be of more general concern to the entire student body of the university.

If you have any queries or issues that you may want to present to the School or to higher academic bodies, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Teaching and all that jazz

I am not taking up any teaching duties for the second teaching block of this academic year. I have previously been tutoring first-year Calculus students and marking homework for the course Complex Networks.

A few pictures from distant places

I've always travelled a lot, and I still do. Every now and then, especially when I'm away from home and exploring new places, I take pictures, too. You can have a look at some of them here.
