Vegucate Bristol community

.jpeg)
This community aims to 'vegucate' the Bristol public through a series of warm, light-hearted and
enjoyable evenings that are FREE and include film screenings, talks, cookery demos, comedy and food stalls.
Our community is tolerant, welcoming and easy going and we believe in sharing the benefits of a
plant-based lifestyle with everyone who would like to find out more about the plus sides of living
without meat and dairy. We are non-judgmental and although we take our issues seriously we don't
take ourselves too seriously!
.
This community is made up of people who used to be meat-eaters and dairy-consumers but took
the steps needed to go plant-based later in their lives. We believe 100% that food and good times are for
sharing and that the best way to introduce new ideas to people is to be welcoming and inclusive,
and to have a good time.. So we fully respect everybody's current dietary choices, and everyone
is welcome to our events, including even the hardest-core carnivores, dairy-lovers and vegetable-
haters. And we understand the challenges that we all face when giving up meat and dairy.
People who are already lucky enough to follow a plant-based lifestyle are also welcome - please do
bring a friend to introduce them to the wonders of going plant-based.
Our events are always FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Vegucate Bristol

University students in Bristol returning to their courses this autumn will not only be learning about their chosen studies - they will also have a chance to get ‘Vegucated’ on their eating habits, with two free screenings planned in November for this life-altering documentary.
Too many students know absolutely nothing about their food.Vegucated gives a light-hearted look at the positive aspects of going vegan, and will help students gain a fresh awareness of the food they put into their bodies. It seems a paradox that we have some of the most intelligent people on the planet at university, and yet hardly any of them get any 'vegucation' about the food they eat. I aim to start a 'vegolution' in Bristol.
Vegucated is set to be screened TWICE at the Polish Club, on 1 and 6 November. The event starts at 6:30 pm and ends at 10 pm each night. Entry is FREE to the public, and the evenings include FREE PIZZAS and snacks, stand-up comedians (CHRIS STOKES, DOMINIC BERRY AND ANDREW O'NEILL) as well as the film screening, a fundraising RAFFLE and a DISCUSSION afterwards. Donations are highly welcome. All funds raised go to VEGFAM charity, which feeds the hungry without exploiting animals.

Vegucated @ Bristol

I have recently organised a FREE PREMIERE of the documentary film Vegucated in Bristol next month. Vegucated is a feature-length documentary that follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. There’s Brian, the bacon-loving bachelor who eats out all the time, Ellen, the single mom who prefers comedy to cooking, and Tesla, the college student who avoids vegetables and bans beans. They have no idea that so much more than steak is at stake and that the fate of the world may fall on their plates. Lured with true tales of weight lost and health regained, they begin to uncover hidden sides of animal agriculture and soon start to wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. Before long, they find themselves risking everything to expose an industry they
But can their conviction carry them when times get tough? What about on family vacations fraught with skeptical step-dads, carnivorous cousins, and breakfast buffets? Part sociological experiment, part science class, and part adventure story, Vegucated showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who share one journey and ultimately discover their own paths in creating a kinder, cleaner, greener world, one bite at a time.
Click here for the official trailer of Vegucated, and here for the official webpage of Vegucated.
Vegucated was shown in 13 different cities across the UK during the UK Green Film Festival in May, but Bristol is one of the many cities that missed out. Having lived in Bristol for almost 7 years, and always liking its strong stance towards environmental protection and strong sense of community, I feel that the screening of Vegucated is a great opportunity to provide an immense value to the Bristol society.
For futher information about the event, click here.
As a quick summary of how the event went, we had 82 guests on the day in a 100-capacity room in Hamilton House, Stokes Croft. We raised a total of 85.00 pounds' for the vegan charity Vegfam from donations and raffle money; this reinforces their cause in feeding the hungry across the globe without any animal exploitation.
