Vegan-friendly restaurants

Cafe Kino - located in Stokes Croft, this is simply the BEST 100% VEGAN cafe in Bristol! The veggie burgers, chips and salad combo are legendary. Not to mention its yummy and generously sized salad platter, mouth-watering vegan cakes, hearty vegan English breakfast, energising smoothies, soups, plus a dish-of-the-day (e.g. vegan lasagne, vegan Spanish butterbean pie, etc.). Whenever I go there, I always have to refrain myself from ordering everything :)

Cafe Maitreya - more high-end than Cafe Kino, and 100% vegetarian, Cafe Maitreya is a top-notch restaurant that prepares food from locally sourced, seasonal, organic ingredients.

Pepenero - an eat-in/take-away Italian fast food restaurant that serves mainly bread and pizzas, and provides excellent vegan options (they use vegan cheeses for their vegan pizzas). Address: 22 Bond Street, Bristol BS1 3LU

Falafel King - a Mediterranean restaurant whose menu is almost all vegan (except for a couple of dishes containing eggs). Needless to say, falafels are what it's famous for. The restaurant is located on Cotham Hill, and includes an underground space called the Khan which is suitable for parties and big occasions. There's also a Falafel King stall on the Harbourside.

Thali Cafe - The first Thali Cafe was opened many moons ago (in 1999 to be precise!). Inspired by their travels to India, and unimpressed by the anglicised versions of Indian food, they found in restaurants on their return they decided to introduce the UK to authentic Indian street food.
The Café is more than just a restaurant; it is an engaging social space that helps cultivate the creativity of the community around it. They invites local musicians to play in the evenings and local artists to show their work inside.
They have since opened three more restaurants in Bristol and each time they’ve shunned mainstream locations in favour of areas that have a strong sense of community where they can form relationships with local people and businesses.
Thali Café believe that everyone regardless of their income should have access to good quality and wholesome food. They also believe that businesses must act responsibly and be led by their values not just by profit. It is from these two core values and by the aspiration to have a positive impact on our community that they are guided in the decisions they take in running their company.

Arc Cafe - The Arc Cafe is an ethical vegan cafe opened early 2012. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere with a choice of rustic in-house-made food made daily with organic ingredients. Its menu changes with daily specials.
The cafe is situated in a 5-storey building comprising a concert and event venue, performance spaces, a workshop, an art gallery, a theatre-cinema and a meeting space. The building is run, managed and maintained by a not-for-profit all volunteer collective. Financial income of the House left after running costs gets used to renovate the building to ecological standards, equip the housed workshops, and provide the volunteers with training , officially (when possible) certificated courses according to their interests and work , cover of travelling costs, and artists with the possible pay and support to cover expenses.
The house is open for any group, campaign, project that accords to its eco-political statement, awareness and taken-on responsibility on the subjects named.

Friends Chinese Restaurant - run by extremely nice people from Hong Kong, this Chinese is uniquely authentic in Bristol, especially that they serve dishes with black fungi, a highly nutritious food that is rarely found in the UK. It also does a great job in smashing the myth that Chinese food is all deep-fried. For vegan groups of 10 or more, they actually do a vegan menu for £10 a head!
